Pegasus


Mounted on Pegasus - being higher than mountains and kings,
Even Zeus - onward I race to a dizzying destiny.
White plains below for the Beast to graze
Give him wings of strength, wings of beauty.
Pegasus, I could sleep nestled on your wings forever,
On the cascades of clouds, or on the quiet sea we tread.
I am no longer a minute mite of festered lands or mortal soils.
I am a Titan atop the heavens, and of Heaven’s grapes I’m fed.
Pegasus, you show me the world! - the seas, the empires, kingdoms
As if I could grasp them all in a handsome hand
And spew them as I wish across the face of the Earth
Like I was a god, rather than a wingless man.
